The Scensible Source wants to help put an end to Period Poverty in the United States and worldwide

We care about the health and safety of all menstruators by creating awareness that access to Period Friendly Bathrooms with free menstrual care products with properly cleaned and maintained disposal methods are a basic hygiene necessity for everyone.

We are focused on the nearly one in five girls in the US who have missed school because they do not have access to period products and believe that every person should be prepared for their first period.

We sponsor Period starter Kit packing parties

For several years Scensible Source partnered with Pittsford Scoop Girl Scout Troop to assemble thousands of period starter kits for Rochester City School District. Kits were provided to 5th and 6th-grade girls participating in I'm WISE (Well-physically, Intellectually, Socially and Emotionally,) an elementary sexuality education initiative. Each pink satin pouch contains sanitary pads, panty liners, hand wipes, Scensibles disposal bags, a friendship bracelet, and instructions on proper disposal practices.

Pittsford Girl Scouts do their part to help solve the problem of period poverty in USA by assembling 2000 period starter kits for 6th grade students attending Rochester City School District.
Girl Scouts set up an assembly line to put together period starter kits which contain sanitary pads, Scensibles disposal bags, a friendship bracelet, hand wipes, and panty liners, which were donated by Scensible Source
The Scensibles Cycle Bag Kit provides a convenient, useful, and compact tool that helps girls navigate this new experience with confidence.

We donate menstrual care products and Scensibles bags

Scensible Source supports students in need by donating sanitary pads and Scensibles bags to Paper and Pencils, a project of the Jewish Family Service of Rochester, that allows teachers to obtain donated school supplies.
Thank you for providing our students with personal hygiene items that they may not have felt comfortable asking for. I think what you are doing to support our schools is amazing!
— Kayleigh Usachev, Teacher, Rochester International Academy

We Sponsor Projects

The P.A.D. Project (Providing Access and Dignity)

In 2015 along with the National Council of Jewish Women Greater Rochester, NY Chapter Scensible Source developed the P.A.D. Project Initiative, which organizes kit making parties around the community with organizations, social groups, and businesses to donate to food pantries, schools, and refugee centers.

Scensibles helps to create awareness of universal access to menstrual care products by working with the National Council of Jewish Women, Rochester Section, by donating sanitary pads and Scensibles bags to Center for Youth.

We sponsor product collection parties

Scensible Source created the first ever, Pad Party, a gathering of women to collect feminine care products, tampons, sanitary pads and panty liners, at Shear Ego Salon and Spa.
We see women every day who need feminine care products. Food stamps do not cover these costly yet necessary items. Many schools and community groups are reluctant to collect these much-needed “unmentionable” products. We are grateful that the Pad Party will help replenish our supply of sanitary products.
— Cindy Harper, Former executive director of Cameron Community Ministries.
Attendees enjoyed pampering services such as mini manicures and chair massages , delicious refreshments and drinks all in exchange for donating sanitary pads, tampons and panty liners for those in need.
Donated menstrual care products included thousands of sanitary pads, tampons and panty liners that stocked the shelves at local food pantries, women’s agencies, and homeless shelters

Pad Party is a social gathering to collect menstrual care products, tampons, pads, panty liners, to stock the shelves at local food pantries. The inaugural event was held May 2012 where guests socialized, were treated to pampering services such as mini manicures, chair and hand massages, and enjoyed refreshments.
