About the Company
Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Pittsford New York, the SCENSIBLE SOURCE CO, LLC is committed to providing innovative and hygienic solutions for the disposal of feminine care products. The Company, a women-owned business, was co-founded by Ann Germanow and her husband John Germanow. SCENSIBLES sanitary disposal bags, the first product from The Company, provide a clean, easy, discreet way to dispose of feminine care products (sanitary pads, tampons, panty liners) in a public restroom, at a friend’s home, and in your own bathroom.
The Company has patents for the design and unique features of SCENSIBLES personal disposal bags including the EPA approved embedded antimicrobial agents, scent and style. The name, logo and tag line are all trademarks of the Scensible Source Company. SCENSIBLES sanitary disposal bag contents are manufactured to biodegrade in sanitary and composting landfills between 1 and 5 years.
The Company’s second product line, introduced in March 2007, are stall sanitary napkin waste receptacle liner bags manufactured with embedded antimicrobial agents, scent and biodegradable components. The liner bags are a significant improvement over the commonly used ineffective brown waxed paper bags. The patent pending SecureFit 360 was designed by the founder and her father, a retired professional mechanical engineer, with the goal of properly lining the interior surface and concealing the soiled contents securely inside the disposable bag.
To respond to the demand from women requesting SCENSIBLES for home use, the Company introduced decorative consumer packaging in 2009. The stylish compact size box fits in a bathroom drawer, on the back of the toilet, or wherever feminine care products are stored at home. With thousands of boxes sold on-line, the Company is hoping to make SCENSIBLES available at grocery and drug stores in 2010.
The Company is advocating for a greater public understanding of the environmental and health risks associated with the improper disposal of feminine care products in public restrooms.
About the Founder
Disposing of feminine care items. It’s not a subject that was likely to come up with my girlfriends on the phone or over a cup of coffee. That is until now. Now I can’t stop talking about it. “The problem” began to really bother me several years ago. I started to notice signs in public restrooms: “Do not flush tampons and other feminine care items because they cause toilet clogs.” What was the alternative? Discarding products in a visibly dirty bin, overflowing with smelly, unsightly, unwrapped items? This was unacceptable to me. Why should women have to put up with these hideous conditions? And it’s a legitimate health concern. I knew there must be a better way.
My husband John and I, put considerable time and effort in coming up with the design and features of Scensibles sanitary disposal bags; a unique product that addresses “the problem” head on. It’s the kind of product people say “that makes so much sense!” We believe you will too! Put Scensibles in your women’s facilities and you will do more than create attractive, user friendly restrooms. You’ll also contribute to a more hygienic public surrounding and help prevent plastic applicators from floating in our rivers, lakes and oceans and save on expensive plumbing repairs as well!
